Event Description

invites to a seminar

From public investments in research and innovation to mitigation of climate change

with Professor Teis Hansen

Addressing the climate crisis requires all hands-on deck – not least researchers and innovators. It also calls for further consideration for how public investments in research and innovation are made. The turn towards mission-oriented innovation policy is one response to this, however, we still know little about how to prioritise public investments in research and innovation, also within the mission-oriented innovation policy framework. This is part of the background for The Danish Government’s expert group on the role of research in the green transition. The talk will focus on the expert group’s work on developing an analytical framework to assist in the prioritization of public research and innovation funds and link the work to current research on innovation policy and the green transition.

 Short Biography of 100 words

His research focuses on the importance of spatial aspects of innovation processes for sustainability transitions; transformative innovation policy; green regional development; and technology transfer from developed to emerging economies. Empirically, his research is focused on the energy system, energy-intensive industries, maritime transport, and the bioeconomy.
