15.30-17.15 Workshop on Feedback in Academia 

Collegial feedback is a very important practice that can massively impact academic careers, as well as cluster, departmental and academic culture. It affects everyone, junior to senior, across all position categories. Everyone must do it and receive it and learn it. When we give feedback, we also role model academic culture to colleagues. But neither giving nor receiving feedback is easy. 

At this workshop, we will explore your experiences with different kinds of feedback, both positive and not so much. The goal is to collect tips and inspiration for good practices, and from that to make good feedback our ‘default’ mode in MSC’s different interaction contexts.  

15.30-15.45 Introduction

What is feedback? Towards improving MSC feedback culture and developing an ‘MSC Code of Conduct for Collegial Feedback’. 

15.45-16.55: World Café

Share your experiences with different types of feedback, focusing on good methods and those to avoid. Contribute to the development of best practices for giving and receiving feedback in various contexts, including research environments (clusters, centers), PhD supervision, peer review and discussant roles (journals, books, conferences), employee development conversations ('MUS'), evaluations in the context of teaching, and the giving and taking of feedback in relation to administration issues.

16.55-17.15: Plenary discussion and collecting points for an ‘MSC Code of Conduct for Collegial Feedback’
