Book Launch: Routledge Handbook on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement

Book Launch: Routledge Handbook on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement

Join us to celebrate the publication of this newly released book on meaningful stakeholder engagement (MSE), a concept and practice that is currently seeing a resurgence with increased emphasis on affected stakeholders, i.e. emphasizing the involvement of individuals, groups, environment and nature that may be adversely affected by business operations, and their claims to participation. The launch will feature brief interventions by the four editors (hybrid), who represent as diverse academic fields as law, technical planning, political science and anthropology, who will highlight points emerging from the book’s chapters:

Professor Karin Buhmann, CBS: The resurgence and relevance of MSE for corporate sustainability and responsible business conduct – a Global South, High North (Arctic), and EU perspective

Dr Alberto Fonseca, Associate Professor, Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil: The Fundaõ Dam collapse and post-disaster involvement of the affected community – an EIA and ethics perspective

Dr Nathan Andrews, Associate Professor, McMaster University, Toronto, Canada: MSE in the extractives industries in Western Africa – perspectives from theory and practice

Dr Giuseppe Amatulli, post-doc in First Nation governance, Carleton University, Ottawa: Pre-engagement and the preemption of cumulative effects of industrial development - a First Nation perspective

The interventions will be followed by a discussion with the audience, and a reception.

Access the book and individual chapters at no cost (open access) at  https://doi.org/10.4324/9781003388227
