Leading Experts: Organizing Careers and Knowledge in Complex Industries

INTRODUCTION

In today’s fast-changing economy, specialized knowledge is key to innovation, strategic decisions, and smooth operations. Companies increasingly compete to hire top talent, and they need to effectively structure and manage experts.

Leaders in these fields face the challenge of bringing together specialists from different areas and ensuring their knowledge is used effectively across the organization and provide for career paths that makes it attractive for experts to stay and develop over time.

This event will explore what it takes to lead expert teams, with a special focus on how career structures impact the recognition and growth of specialists in complex organizations.

 You will meet:

· Alisa Adel who is Senior Director of Research and Technology at AIRBUS Defence and Space. Alisa will present Airbus' 'Expert Career' - a real-life example from practice to illustrate key findings from research

·   Giacomo Marchesini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategy and Innovation, CBS. His research focuses on the areas of innovation, behavioral strategy, and social dynamics, with a particular interest in the role of expertise in decision-making

·   Pedro Monteiro, Assistant Professor in the Department of Organization, CBS. Pedro’s research examines how organizations develop, recognize, and integrate expertise, especially in technically complex settings such as Aerospace. Pedro will talk about ‘Challenges of recognizing and valuing experts at work
