Join the CBS Cybersecurity Alumni Network on 24th April 2025 for our next event at Howitzvej 60 (6th floor) where we will be exploring how recent developments on the world stage have impacted the assessment of cybersecurity threats. Since the ViaSat hack on the first day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 European companies have found themselves in a new position as collateral damage in the cyber elements of a major war. Later, we had to realise that Russia’s efforts to replicate the activist hacking and DDoS campaigns of the Ukrainian IT Army amounted to a full-scale hybrid war against Western governments and companies. This much increased cyber threat coincides with a marked surge in Chinese state hacking activity, particularly against the telecommunications sector worldwide, and the activist hacking related to Israel’s military operation against Hamas in Gaza.
Yet, the real gamechanger was the arrival of the second Trump administration. From declaring that Russia is no longer seen as a cyber threat to openly threatening dire consequences if the EU tries to enforce its new platform regulations against US Big Tech companies, it has shone a harsh light on the issue of European digital sovereignty, or rather, its absence. Where does this leave the Danish government or Danish companies and citizens? Are US cloud providers and cybersecurity companies still safe, and what happens if we conclude they are not? This session will address all these questions and more. As usual, this event is kindly supported by our sponsors PwC so once more there will be free pizza and drinks at the networking reception following the event.
