Media, democracy and activism: A one-day symposium

Symposium

Join us to celebrate the near completion of the project Imagining Digital Power and the Power of digital Imagination (Digibase). The project has spent the last years researching climate action and the power relations that (un)fold between social movements and multinational corporations on social media, in the press and broader political contexts. At a time of political uncertainty, the symposium will focus on democracy and activism.

Programme for the day:

09:30 Lance Bennett (University of Washington, Weizenbaum Institute of Networked Society): Communication, Culture Wars, and the Destruction of Democracy

11:00 Presentation of the Digibase project (Irene Blum, Sila Latz, Daniel Lundgaard, Julie Uldam)

11:15 Panel:  Activists on media, power and activism (Among others: The green youth movement, Collective Against Environmental Racism, moderated by Amanda, journalist and activist)

12:30 Lunch

13:45 Panel: Researchers on media, power and activism (Frank De Bakker, Nicole Doerr, Alexandra Segerberg. Moderated by Irene Blum)

15:00 The End

Organisers: Irene Blum, Sila Latz, Daniel Lundgaard, Julie Uldam
