Abstract:
China's strides in developing high tech are such that it is winning the tech race with the US and leaving Europe far behind, with a few exceptions in discrete areas. Such shifts in global leadership happen only rarely and raise a host of economic and geopolitical questions for Europe and the US. The talk will describe the tech areas in which China is making obvious strides, discuss some of the headwinds it faces and ask the audience to consider how we in Europe might respond.
