Description

How do we build peace in Colombia?

The issue of land ownership and inequality between the countryside and the city undoubtedly ranks among the principal structural causes of the armed conflict in Colombia. The peace agreement signed in 2016 marked a key milestone in this violent history, offering a path of hope after more than fifty years of war.

In this conversation, we will explore how small-scale coffee growing can help address these issues and, by extension, contribute to consolidating the peace process. We will hear from Silverio Cardozo, Andrés Felipe Quintero, and Yenny Velásquez, members of the Alianza Cafetera de Colombia, which brings together more than 200 associations and cooperatives representing over 15,000 coffee-producing families across the country.

Their work in the field—organising communities, producing coffee, protecting nature, and promoting fair trade—is not only a business development activity but also an act of peace.

As an accompaniment to the conversation, artisan Colombian coffee brought by the Alianza will be offered.

An event organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Colombia in Denmark.
