IGNORANCE AT WORK:
The practices and politics of
organized ignorance

30 November 2020, 13:30-16:30
CBS, Porcelænshaven 18B, room 2.142 or Teams

Workshop organizers:
Morten Knudsen, Birke Otto, Justine Pors

Hybrid event location:
CBS Lokale PH 18.B.2142/MS Teams (please register)

Date: 30 November 2020
Time: 13.30-16.30

Big data, transparency, and sharing as organising principles compel organizations to steadily seek information and produce knowledge. A focus on these imperatives though may distract attention from those mundane organizational practices that rely on avoiding, skirting and abstaining from palpable knowledge. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss and reflect on the politics and efficacies of mobilizing non-knowledge and strategic ignorance as a social practice - rather than an individual act of ignoring. Kate Kenny (NUY Galway), Nanna Bonde Thylstrup (CBS) and Linsey McGoey (University of Essex) will present various dimensions (practices, artefacts, affects, infrastructures and organizational rationalities) of ignoring and being ignored as social manifestation of the desire to produce knowledge and truth in contemporary organization.

Programme (updated)
