Workshop

Event Description

RISC Project Workshop, hosted by BRAC University, will be held on Wednesday 22nd September 6.00 – 7.30 pm Bangladesh time (2.00 - 3.30 pm CET; 8.00 – 9.30 am EST)

Dear Colleagues

We are pleased to invite you to join our Workshop on International Initiatives to Improve Worker Safety in the Bangladesh Ready Made Garment Industry.

The Workshop provides an opportunity for us to present preliminary findings from our project Regulating International Supply Chains (RISC) concerning the many initiatives set in place in the aftermath of the Rana Plaza incident. Our report outlines the landscape and scope of governance initiatives for worker safety, broadly defined. We aim to make findings easily accessible to practitioners working to improve worker safety in the Bangladeshi RMG industry as well as practitioners working more broadly with sustainability of supply chains.

The Workshop will consist of short presentations on: the Ready-Made Garment industry, internationally and in Bangladesh; an overview of the initiatives; case studies on initiatives focusing on worker safety, worker rights, and skills development; the impacts of Covid-19; and an open discussion on perceptions of the impact of the initiatives and their implications.

The Workshop, hosted by BRAC University, will be held on Wednesday 22nd September 6.00 – 7.30 pm Bangladesh time (2.00 - 3.30 pm CET; 8.00 – 9.30 am EST)

It will be conducted in English though Zoom.

The link to the Zoom meeting and the Report (in English and Bangladeshi) will be circulated to registered participants a few days before the workshop.

For any questions concerning the event, please contact: Markus Bernhart Tang, mbt.msc@cbs.dk
