Plotting the course: maritime industry-research collaboration

Event Description

Over the next decade, the maritime sector is facing several interconnected challenges including green transition, automation, and digitalization. Solutions to these challenges will require increased collaboration between industry stakeholders, universities, research institutions, and maritime academies etc.

On 9 December 2021, the Maritime Research Alliance invites maritime stakeholders and researchers to a one-day conference on industry-research collaboration in the maritime sector.

The mentioned challenges will affect stakeholders in different parts of the maritime sector in different ways. The aim of the conference is to investigate how collaboration with maritime research and educational institutions may help turn these specific challenges into opportunities.

At the conference, leading experts from shipping companies, the maritime supply industry, ports, maritime authorities, universities, maritime academies, research centers, NGO’s and other maritime stakeholders will share their insights on the specific challenges and opportunities through a mix of presentations and workshop discussions.

On the Maritime Research Alliance (MRA)

Maritime Research Alliance was established in 2018 as a non-profit network organization that works to further the collaboration between maritime researchers at the Danish Universities and Maritime Academies.

Specifically, Maritime Research Alliance works to:

  • Coordinate maritime research and education at the Danish Universities and Maritime Academies.
  • Facilitate collaboration between maritime researchers and other stakeholders from the maritime community
  • Make Danish maritime research and education visible in Denmark and abroad.

Today the alliance connects maritime researchers from Aalborg University, Aarhus University, Copenhagen Business School, Danish Institute for International Studies, IT-University, MARTEC, Roskilde University, SIMAC, Technical University of Denmark, University of Copenhagen, and University of Southern Denmark.

Maritime Research Alliance is kindly funded by the Danish Maritime Fund.
