MeeTax no 1

Event Description

Main objective

The MeeTax event series provide an open and inclusive online platform to facilitate dialogue and networking opportunities between established and early-career researchers in tax law. During each event, three established academics will join a group of twelve early-career researchers (maximum). Early-career researchers will be given the opportunity to discuss topics related to a wide range of questions, including on the role of tax law scholars, the definition of a publication strategy, the drafting of funding proposals, the interaction between tax academia and tax practice. The original idea for these MeeTax events has been inspired by the networking events recently organized by the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S).

The three established academics participating to the first event are:

Sigrid Hemels (Professor of tax law at the Erasmus School of Law of the Erasmus University Rotterdam)

Judith Freedman (Emeritus Professor of Taxation Law and Policy)

Werner Haslehner (Professor in European and International Tax Law, ATOZ Chair for European and International Taxation).

Format

The early-career scholars will be divided into break-out rooms to allow small groups of 3-4 researchers to talk to one of the three established academics for around 20 minutes. After each 20-minutes session, the composition of the break-out rooms will change in order to give the possibility to every early-career researcher to meet each of the three established scholars that has been invited to the event.

Time

Our first event will take place on the 25th of February between 17.00-18.15 CET time (4 - 5:15 pm UK time). Please join us on time to facilitate the allocation of participants into break-out rooms.

Registration

To register, please fill in the online form on this webpage. The selection of the participants to our first event will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
