It’s becoming clear for all: Something has to change, and urgently. Sustainability awareness is increasing, and we hear about innovations in many different industrial areas. But is it fast enough?

More importantly, are the quick solutions good enough? And what is our role as educators in accelerating change?

Research indicates that our behaviors are the visible expression of our mindset. What is the mindset that got us here, and how do we shift a mindset?

In this session Dr. Isabel Rimanoczy will share about her research on the sustainability mindset initiated at Columbia University. She will briefly present how a complex construct has been operationalized through the Sustainability Mindset Principles, a scaffolding to understand and develop the mindset that can shape a better world.

Dr. Rimanoczy is the Convener of the PRME Working Group on the Sustainability Mindset, a network of academics in +55 countries and 197 institutions. She has 17 years researching the mindset for sustainability and how to develop it. Her Sustainability Mindset Indicator, the first instrument to assess the mindset for sustainability received three awards from Reimagine Education, in 2018 and 2021.
