As Chief Executive Officer and Partner, Sheela Maini Søgaard manages the health and growth of the Bjarke Ingels Groups (BIG) 5 offices and its 700+ designers as well as overseeing the development of the organization and its strategic priorities. Sheela started her career as a Management Consultant at McKinsey & Company before moving on to market and product development at GN ReSound. Later, Sheela led business development efforts for Danish culinary entrepreneur and NOMA co-founder Claus Meyer and joined BIG as CFO in 2008. In 2019, Sheela was named one of the most creative people in business on Fast Company’s annual list. In 2022, the Danish Association for Managers and Executives honored Sheela with the CEO of the Year Award. Sheela is Chairman of the Board of Dinesen.
In her inaugural lecture, Sheela will address the main leadership challenges, she has faced in her time in BIG, first as CFO, then as CEO and partner. She will focus on the remarkable growth of the company in its various economic and organizational aspects.
The lecture will be followed by a conversation with Professor Sara Louise Muhr. Sheela and Sara will discuss three distinct leadership challenges and their interrelations: 1) Leading Sustainable Growth, 2) Leading Creative People, and 3) Leading Diversity & Inclusion.
