Inauguration of Center of Excellence - Odesa / CBS

Event Description

In the difficult times of war it is critical that we are proactive and launch activities that give hope for the future. At Department of Strategy and Innovation at Copenhagen Business School we take a long-term responsibility by initiating a "competence corridor" between Copenhagen and Odesa. For Danish shipping, it will be advantageous to build strong educational and research relations with Odesa, as the region around the Black Sea is likely to gain ever greater strategic and commercial importance.

May 13th 2024, CBS and ONMU, will join forces and establish a new joined Center-of-Excellence (CoE) between Odesa and Copenhagen. This collaborative effort will unite researchers from both universities and serve as a foundation for the upcoming research-based bachelor’s program at Odesa National Maritime University described below.

19:25-19:40:On the importance of the partnership between Odesa National Maritime University and Copenhagen Business School by Anton Rybak, Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark.

19:40-20:15:  “Creating Global Shipping – the Perspective of Odesa” by Gelina Helaftis, Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies and Professor at Maritime History, University of Crete

20:15-20:30: The Copenhagen-Odesa Competence Corridor by Vice Rector Iryna Savelieva, Odesa National Maritime University and Martin Jes Iversen, Associate Professor, CBS and MPA Professor, SMU

20:30-21:00: Reception
