Call for Teaching Cases: Business and Biodiversity: integrating nature challenges into business and management theory and practice

Have you recently written or are you in the process of developing a teaching case that explores the intersection of biodiversity, nature, and business management?

We would like to invite you to present the teaching case and your approach during the Biodiversity and Business Coffee online meeting on 24th November 2025. Successful submissions will be invited to become part of a new Free Case Collection published by The Case Centre in 2026.

As the global business environment increasingly recognizes the importance of sustainability, there is a growing need for educational resources that highlight how biodiversity and nature are integrated into business and management theories and practices.

Objective: The objective of this call is to gather innovative and impactful teaching cases that demonstrate how businesses can incorporate biodiversity and nature into their strategic, operational, and ethical frameworks. We seek cases that provide practical insights and foster critical thinking among students about the role of nature in sustainable business practices.

Themes: We welcome submissions that cover a wide range of themes, including but not limited to Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Green Innovation, Environmental Risk Management, Leadership, Strategy and Organization, Digital Management.

Submission Guidelines:
• Case Format: Cases should be written in a clear and engaging narrative style, suitable for classroom discussion. Before publication, each case will have to include a teaching note with learning objectives, discussion questions, and suggested readings.
• Length: Cases should be between 5-12 pages, equivalent to between 2500-6000, excluding teaching notes and appendices.
• Originality: Submissions must be original and not previously published. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work does not infringe on any copyrights.
• Deadlines: The abstract should describe the key topics addressed in the case (the decision problem), identify the management concepts addressed in the case study, and the biodiversity and nature challenge the case is addressing. Interested authors are invited to submit a 500-word abstract for consideration. Addressing biodiversity in business requires a number of research methods and disciplinary approaches. In addition to the research element, as higher education educators we face new challenges in integrating biodiversity and other environmental aspects into our curricula.

Through these monthly online ‘coffee’ meetings we hope to stimulate debate and share experiences that can enhance our cumulative contributions to this important field of action.

This initiative is an integral part of the monthly Biodiversity and Business Coffee meetings hosted by Copenhagen Business School, Assoc. Prof. Caroline Aggestam Pontoppidan, in collaboration with Kent Williams, Assistant Professor, FC Manning School of Business, Acadia University and Helen Goworek, Professor in Marketing, Durham University Business School
