The Digital Transformations Platform is thrilled to host a talk by Shoshana Zuboff, author of the best-selling book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power. Zuboff is an honorary doctor at Copenhagen Business School, and this event will be a rare chance for scholars, policy makers and the broader public to engage with one of the leading social scientists in the world, recognized for spearheading and shaping critical debates on the consequences of digital transformations.

Her talk at Copenhagen Business School will focus on a new article titled Surveillance Capitalism or Democracy? The Death Match of Institutional Orders and the Politics of Knowledge in Our Information Civilization, just published in the journal Organization Theory (available here). In the article, Zuboff adds new dimensions to her argument that surveillance capitalism requires both critical theorization and political intervention.

Zuboff’s talk will be followed by a panel debate with leading Danish scholars working on related topics in their research. In the panel, Brit Ross Winthereik (professor, DTU), Sune Lehmann (professor, DTU and SODAS, KU), Helene Ratner(associate professor, DPU/Aarhus University), Ursula Plesner (associate professor, CBS) and Nanna Bonde Thylstrup (associate professor, CBS) will discuss the work of Zuboff and relate to their own research projects.

The event will be moderated by professor and co-director of the Digital Transformations Platform at CBS, Mikkel Flyverbom, and followed by a drinks reception. CBS University Director, Arnold Boon will open the event.
